Lyle William Blanshan was born February 6, 1925 in East Jordan, Charlevoix County, MI to parents
William Singleton and Emma Sheffels Blanshan.  He married Bonnie Lou Washburn, born June 27,
1929, on December 14, 1946. Bonnie was born in Sandusky, Ohio.  Lyle and Bonnie lived in Boyne
Falls, Charlevoix County, MI.  Lyle served in the Navy during WWII and was discharged as a Seaman
First Class in March, 1946. He later transferred to the Air Force and retired in 1964 at the rank of Staff
Sergeant. Lyle died Feb 3, 2010 and is buried in Boyne Valley Cemetery in Boyne Falls, Charlevoix
County.  Bonnie died on November 3, 2011 and was buried next to Lyle.

The children of Lyle and Bonnie are:

Sally Lee - born  _______. Sally changed her name to Sara Rachel. She married Dale Haven. Sara
had two sons, Alexander and Ernest.

Lyle James - Born March 11, 1953. He had four daughters: Stephanie and Kelly with first wife Bonnie
Ellenberger, Sara and Christine with second wife Marcy.

Barbara Ann - born May 18, 1958. She had two daughters:  Lisa Marie Harris with first husband Myron
Jon Harris and Hope Eli
zabeth of Petoskey, Michigan with second husband Juan Vela. She later
married Raymond Amaya.

William Joseph - January 10, 1964. He married Jackie Lukas and they had two children, Anna Marie
Blanshan (12/19/1988) and Joseph Daniel (2/5/1990).

Nancy Marie - October 20, 1966. Nancy has no children.

 OBITUARY OF LYLE WILLIAM BLANSHAN

  Lyle William Blanshan, age 84 of Boyne Falls, died February 3, 2010 at Grandvue Medical Care
Facility in East Jordan. Lyle was born on February 6, 1925 in East Jordan, MI, the son of William and
Emma Blanshan and was raised in Boyne City, and graduated from Boyne City High School. On
December 14, 1946, he married his wife of 63 years, Bonnie Washburn in Boyne City and she survives.
In 1941, he entered the US Army, transferred to the US Navy, and then later transferred again to the US
Air Force, retiring in 1964 at the rank of Staff Sergeant and after serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
Following his discharge, he went to work in Comstock Park, MI working construction, and in 1966
moved back to the Boyne City area and went to work for the Petoskey High School in 1968 as a
custodian and bus driver, retiring from there in 1986. Following his retirement, we went to work as a
custodian at Carter’s and worked there until the late 1990’s. He was a member of the VFW, the
American Legion, and the Odd Fellows. He loved building airplanes, reading Louis Lamoure and Zane
Gray books and watching TV. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Red Wings fan.
  He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, 5 children, Sarah (Dale) Haven of Charleston, SC, Lyle (Pamela)
Blanshan of Hudsonville, MI, Barbara (Raymond) Amaya of Crystal City, TX, William Blanshan of Boyne
Falls, and Nancy Blanshan of Boyne Falls; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great
grandchild; and by a special family friend, Mickey Howard of Boyne Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by 3 siblings, June, Allen, and Basil.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8th at 10:30am at the Stackus Funeral Home of
Boyne City with Ronald Klooster officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 6-
8pm.
    The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his extended family and friends at Grandvue Medical
Care Facility for the great care he received during his stay.

     Bonnie Washburn Blanshan Obituary

      Bonnie Blanshan, age 82, of Boyne Falls died on November 3, 2011 at Grandvue Medical Care
Facility in East Jordan. Bonnie was born on June 27, 1929 in Fremont, OH the daughter of Daniel and
Florence (Erfourth) Washburn.  On December 14, 1946, she married her husband of 63 years, Lyle
Blanshan in Boyne City.  Bonnie was a loving wife and devoted homemaker for her five children. She
also worked for a time as a housekeeper for Hayners Motel, the Coach House and Boyne Mountain.
Bonnie enjoyed traveling with her granddaughter Lisa and playing the Wii with her. She liked spending
time talking to her sister Florence at Grandvue over a cup of coffee. Bonnie will always be remembered
for the three loves in her life; her husband Lyle and cake and candy.
      Bonnie is survived by her five children, Sarah (Dale) Haven of Charleston, SC, Lyle (Pamela)
Blanshan of Hudsonville, MI, Barbara (Raymond) Amaya of Crystal City, TX, William Blanshan of
Dallas, TX, and Nancy Blanshan of Boyne Falls; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-
great grandchild; several brothers and sisters; and by a special family friend, Mickey Howard of Boyne
Falls.
     She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Lyle Blanshan in 2010; and many brothers and
sisters. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Stackus Funeral Home in
Boyne City.  A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Boyne Valley Township Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to
her extended family and friends at Grandvue Medical Care Facility for the great care she received
during her stay.
