Leonin Beauchamp Blanchan (now Blanshan) was born in 1578 in Neuville-au-Cornet,
Pas-de-Calais, France. In 1598, when he was 20 years old, he married Isabeau LeRoy in his
hometown.  Isabeau was born in 1582 in Neuville-au-Cornet, Pas-de-Calais. Isabeau was the
daughter Nicholas LeRoy, (born 1550 in Armentieres, Artois, France and died 1595) and Judith
De Maretz (born 1555 at Armentieres).  Judith was the daughter of Pierre De Maretz.   Leonin and
Isabeau had been married 54 years when Leonin died on April 12, 1649 at the age of 71 in
Canterbury, Kent, England. Isabeau passed away on April 12, 1649 at the age of 67.

The children of Leonin Blanshan and Isabeau LeRoy Blanshan were:

Matthys, Mattheus or Matthew Blanchan (Blanshan) - born February 17, 1603 or 1606 in the
former province of Artois, France was baptised in the village of Neuville-au-Cornet in Artois.  He
married Magdeleine/Magdelena Joire (baptized on October 27, 1611)  from Armentieres on
October 15, 1633.  Magdeleine was the daughter of Petrus (Pierre) Joire and Jacoba Le Blanc or
Le Blan. Matthys was the immigrant ancestor of all Blanshans in America.  (See

Anthoin/Antoine Blanchan (Blanshan) - born in 1602 in Neuville-au-Cornet.  Records at the
Strangers Church in Canterbury, Kent, England, show Antoine's brother Matthew as the best
man at Antoine's wedding when he married Martinne or Marinne Baete Volque or Valquel,
daughter of Jacques Volque/Valquel, on April 12, 1649.  Brother Matthew was also Godfather to
Antoine and Martine Baete's son, Mathieu, who was baptized on November 19, 1654 in the
French congregation at Mannheim. Marie Desoprie was godmother. Antoine died in 1654 or 1691
in Hurley, Ulster County, New York.
